Am Samstag den 06.06.2020 fand ab 17 Uhr eine Demonstration gegen Rassismus und Polizeigewalt in der Stadt statt.
Die Teilnehmer wollten dem getöteten Afroamerikaner George Floyd gedenken, der am 25 Mai in der US-Großstadt Minneapolis während eines Polizeieinsatzes ums Leben kam und sich dafür einsetzen, dass alle Menschen unabhängig von der Hautfarbe gleiche Chancen im Leben erhalten.
Die Veranstalter rechneten ursprünglich mit zirka 300 Teilnehmern.
Geplant war der Treffpunkt um 17 Uhr am Mirabelplatz.
Danach sollte der Demonstrationszug bis zum Alten Markt geführt werden, wo eine Kundgebung angesetzt war.
Zur völligen Überraschung aller Beteiligten kamen geschätzte 4.000 Menschen zum Treffpunkt.
Aufgrund des Andranges musste die Polizei in Absprache mit dem Veranstalter die Routenführung abändern.
Wie die Polizei meldete funktionierte die Zusammenarbeit mit dem Veranstalter und den Ordnern außerordentlich gut und engagiert.
Es gab keine Vorfälle und nahezu alle Teilnehmer verfügten über Mund-Nasenschutz.
Sogar sämtliche Müll wurde von den Ordnern in mitgebrachten Müllsäcken weggeräumt.

The participants wanted to commemorate the killed African American George Floyd, who was killed in a police operation in the US city of Minneapolis on May 25 and work to ensure that everyone has equal opportunities in life regardless of skin color.
The organizers originally expected around 300 participants.
The meeting point was planned at 5 p.m. at Mirabelplatz.
Then the demonstration train was to be taken to the Alter Markt, where a rally was scheduled.
To the complete surprise of everyone involved, an estimated 4,000 people came to the meeting point.
Due to the rush, the police had to change the route in consultation with the organizer.
As the police reported, the cooperation with the organizer and the folders worked extremely well and committed.
There were no incidents and almost all participants had mouth and nose protection.
Even all the rubbish was cleared away by the folders in the rubbish bags they brought with them.
